Tower-cum-technical block for air traffic control, fire safety building, and garbage disposal plant inaugurated at Indore airport

The Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport at Indore witnessed the inauguration of a new tower-cum-technical block for air traffic control, a state-of-the art fire safety building, and a garbage disposal plant on December 22, 2024.

The new garbage management system facilitates the on-site processing of all wet and dry waste of the airport. It is reportedly the first zero-waste airport in the country.

Besides, the airport’s current capacity of 4 million passengers would be increased to 5.5 million in the next four months, with modifications at the existing building. Plans are also underway for the runway expansion of the airport from 2,800 metres to 3,400 metres. Further, the airport would likely witness the construction of a new terminal building by the end of 2028. It is likely to increase the passenger handling capacity at the airport to 9 million.
