As an electrical engineer with over 35 years of experience, Kodesia has successfully managed large-scale infrastructure projects in the power and transport sectors. Currently, as executive director, he leads the railways business at KEC International and oversees strategic and operational functions including project management, financial oversight, business development and stakeholder engagement.
During his 30-year tenure at KEC, he has also overseen the company’s manufacturing division and led the transmission & distribution (T&D) business in India. In the past, he has served as founder chairman of the Railway Business Division at the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association. His most memorable assignments include pioneering initiatives that significantly advanced the firm’s operational capabilities and fostered collaboration across sectors. In his current role, he faces several challenges that help him to take strategic decisions, in turn, honing his managerial skills.
Kodesia says, “With a record Rs 2.62 trillion budget allocated for 2024-25, the Indian government’s investment in railways is poised to drive significant advancements”. He feels this funding will modernise infrastructure, enhance safety, and support high-speed rail projects such as the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor. He further says that the emphasis on electrification will help reduce fossil fuel dependency and carbon emissions, positioning Indian Railways as a key driver of economic growth and sustainability. As per him, the sector will get a further boost as the government is upgrading tracks, implementing advanced safety systems like KAVACH and developing world-class stations. He emphasises, “KEC has played a significant role in this growth story, contributing to key projects such as Mission 100 per cent Electrification, Mission Raftaar (speed upgradation), the Dedicated Freight Corridor, and the USBRL tunnel project in Jammu and Kashmir”.
His key goals are enhancing team performance, meeting project deadlines, and contributing to the country’s sustainability goals.
