The government of Telangana is in discussions to employ the public-private partnership (PPP) route for widening, repairs and maintenance work and the construction of new roads in rural, semi-urban, and urban areas in the next four years at a cost of over Rs 260 billion.
The project involves 17,300 km of roads. Of the total investment outlay of Rs 260 billion, Rs 120 billion is dedicated to rural roads. The government has proposed the PPP route and intends to issue maintenance to the same agency for 10 years. A high-level committee is to be formed for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR).
