Mumbai Port unveiled several significant projects and signed investment proposals worth Rs 40 billion, focusing on sustainability and green fuel.
The union minister of ports, shipping and waterways inaugurated several key projects of Mumbai Port Authority. These include the launch of testing operations for the newly constructed third chemical berth at Pir Pau, foundation stone laid for the shore protection and reclamation project at Jawahar Dweep, and the inauguration of the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and programmable logic controller automation system at the Marine oil terminal.
The iPortman system and Estate Operations Management System (EOMS) were also inaugurated, alongside the Mumbai Port Sustainability Foundation (MPSF). Besides, the minister released a brochure on the MPSF and announced an initiative to establish a global-level yacht sailing facility.
Additionally, several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed related to these investments. These include a MoU between Mumbai Port Authority, MPSF, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited to develop a green fuel ecosystem. Another MoU was signed between Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and MPSF to collaborate on emission management, decarbonisation, digitisation, and safety in port and shipping operations. Further, a MoU was signed with the Royal Bombay Yacht Club for the placement of a pontoon to enhance passenger safety at the Gateway of India, and an agreement was signed with RPG Foundation for the development of gardens and heritage showcasing on the pavements in Ballard Estate.
Mumbai Port also finalised land transfer documents for various leasing agreements, including the leasing of two plots to Mahanagar Gas Nigam Limited and two plots at Pir Pau to Aegis Logistics for liquid bulk storage.
