The central government has approved eight national highway projects totaling Rs 510 billion, covering 936 km. These access-controlled projects are designed with a vision for 2047. Among them, a significant Ring Road project for Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, spans 68 km and is estimated at approximately Rs 40 billion. This 4-lane access-controlled Ring Road, is being developed under the hybrid annuity mode (HAM) and will alleviate congestion on multiple highways and facilitate faster movement.
Other projects include the 88 km Agra-Gwalior High-Speed Corridor in build-operate-transfer (BOT) mode at Rs 46.13 billion, the 231 km Kharagpur-Moregram Corridor in HAM mode at Rs 102.47 billion, and the 214 km Tharad-Deesa-Mehsana-Ahmedabad Corridor in BOT mode at Rs 105.34 billion. Additionally, the 137 km Pathalgaon-Gumla section of the Raipur-Ranchi Corridor will be developed on HAM mode at Rs 44.73 billion. Further approvals include the 6-lane Kanpur Ring Road, the Northern Guwahati Bypass, the Guwahati Bypass improvement, and the 8-lane Elevated Nashik Phata-Khed Corridor near Pune.
