Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) decides to revive the Soladevanahalli pumping station by April 20, 2024. This is being done to ensure potable water supply to Bengaluru from Hesaraghatta lake in case of erratic rainfall in following months.
The source of water in Hesaraghatta lake (storage capacity of 0.3 thousand million cubic feet) is a chain of tanks in the Arkavathy river basin. BWSSB will use the water stored in this lake. It will treat the water at the pumping station and then pump it to the MEI Layout water depot. It will further supply the water to various areas in Bengaluru through tankers.
