GRIDCO issues tender for 500 MW storage

Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) has issued a request for proposals for 500 MW/ 2,500 MWh of energy storage, providing five hours of daily peak power assistance, over a five-year term commencing on April 1, 2026. The energy storage system (ESS), which is adaptable to various technologies, needs to be linked to either the central or state transmission network. Only commercially proven and functioning ESS technologies will be eligible. During the five-hour peak period, the projects must guarantee a minimum monthly availability of 95 per cent and execute one full charge-discharge cycle per day, with a maximum recovery time of 1 hour between cycles.
