Centre inaugurates Dhamra- Angul section of Jagadishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra Gas Pipeline Project – Phase II

The union government has inaugurated the Dhamra- Angul section spanning about 412 km under the Jagadishpur- Haldia- Bokaro- Dhamra gas pipeline. The project, being implemented by GAIL (India) Limited, involves construction of a 3,174 km long pipeline from Jagdishpur in Uttar Pradesh to Haldia in West Bengal entailing an investment of Rs 160 billion. The pipeline extends through Hazira- Bijaipur- Jagdishpur pipeline. Phase I has a capacity of 16 mscmd which will be further augmented to 32 mmscmd in Phase II. Besides, it has also laid the foundation stone of Nagpur- Jharsuguda section spanning about 692 km under the Mumbai- Nagpur- Jharsuguda natural gas pipeline. The project involves laying, building, operating or expanding a natural gas pipeline from Mumbai (Maharashtra) to Jharsuguda (Odisha) through Nagpur, Raipur, Bilaspur, Korba, Raigarh along with spurline to Nagpur- Chhindwara- Jabalpur spanning about 1,780 km with an initial system capacity of at least 10 mscmd. It entails an investment of Rs 78.44 billion.
