Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is likely to get an interstate multimodal transport hub near Aerocity, the first in India. It is targeted to provide links between the airport and buses, metro lines and the proposed air train. This connectivity comes as a requirement, following the expected increase in the airport’s capacity, which is set to cross 110 mppa by February 2024 and 135 mppa by 2032. The hub would be connected with various modes including an interstate bus terminus (ISBT), the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s upcoming Phase 4 line, the proposed passenger transport centre and the proposed rapid rail transit system station, including the station for the automated passenger mover. These connections would aid passengers from neighbouring states who travel to the airport. The proposed ISBT is targeted to handle around 50 buses and would be equipped with amenities including EV charging, waiting areas, and food and beverage outlets.
