MoRTH and JICA collaborate to develop guidelines for enhancing mountainous road infrastructure in India

The MoRTH has partnered with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to create a set of five comprehensive guidelines focused on bolstering mountainous road infrastructure in India.
The primary objective of these guidelines is to ensure the construction of high-quality and sustainable road projects in hilly regions, thereby improving road networks and stimulating economic growth.
The guidelines cover various aspects of road construction in mountainous areas, including planning of hilly roads, slope protection and embankment using advanced technology, tunnel construction on arterial roads in hilly terrains, building mountain bridges with cutting-edge techniques, and the operation and maintenance of mountainous highways.
