1200 aircraft expected to be attained by Indian airlines by 2027

Indian airlines are expected to expand with the addition of over 100 aircraft yearly for the next few years. The MoCA estimates that a 15 per cent capacity addition would take the number of aircraft to 1,200 by 2027. As per AAI, passenger growth in India is projected to grow from 371 million passengers in 2023-24 to 412 million in 2024-25. A similar growth is also reported in airports, with the number of airports getting doubled fr­om 74 in 2014 to 148 in 2022. There is a 100 per cent growth in the nu­m­ber of Indian airports including heliports and water aerodromes. More­over, there are 34 flying training organisations approved by the DGCA, operating in 52 locations in the country.
