The central government inaugurated the Itanagar (Holongi) Greenfield Airport project on November 19, 2022. The project, named Donyi Polo Airport, involves the development of a greenfield airport at Holongi in the Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh. It will be developed in two phases over an area of 690 acres at a cost of more than Rs 6.4 billion. Phase I will involve the operation of ATR-type aircraft, and Phase II will involve the subsequent operation of a bigger aircraft such as the A-321, based on the growth of air traffic.
