ILS at VSI Airport operationalised

The Instrument Landing System (ILS) at the Veer Savarkar International (VSI) Airport at Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been operationalised.

The ILS facility was first used by a private airline on April 18, 2024, to land at the airport. The ILS is a precision radio navigation system that provides aircraft with short-range guidance for operations during bad weather, poor visibility, and at night. It is expected to overcome issues including diversion of flights. It would also result in an increase in the operation time window of aircraft.
