Shipping Ministry lays foundation stone for capacity augmentation projects at Deendayal Port

MoPSW laid the foundation stone for various capacity augmentation projects at Deendayal Port on October 19, 2021. They include two dome-shaped godowns to be constructed within 12 months at a cost of Rs 360 mi­llion, which will increase the covered storage capacity by 145,000 tonnes; Oil Jetty No.8 at Old Kandla, which will be constructed in a period of 18 months at a cost of Rs 990 million and will increase the optimal capacity of the port by 3.5 million tonnes per annum, while reducing the waiting period turnaround time of vessels; a parking plaza for trucks/vehicles with ancillary facilities such as canteen, garage and rest shelter, being de­veloped at a cost of Rs 145.9 million for pre-gate verification of documents to ease congestion of vehicles at the gates, corresponding with digital initiatives such as enterprise business system and radio frequency ide­n­­tification being installed at these gates; and modernisation of the exi­sting pipeline network at a cost of Rs 1.27 billion to improve the operational efficiency and handling capacity of edible oil and chemicals at the port.
