AAI decides to cut costs due to heavy losses reported by it amid Covid-19

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has decided to cut costs due to the incurred amid Covid-19. Directives were issued by AAI, cutting costs by over 25 per cent for the financial year 2021-22. As per AAI’s cost-cutting directives, the funds allocated for repairs and maintenance are to the tune of Rs 12.66 billion, but it plans to spend only Rs 9.86 billion. Besides, the authority has proposed to use funds worth Rs 6.46 billion for other operating expenses, compared to the Rs 8.42 billion allocated for the same. Similarly, the authority plans to spend only Rs 2.67 billion for admin expenses, although Rs 4.26 billion has been allocated for the same. AAI is also planning to cut the allowances and perks of over 17,000 employees due to the alleged losses during the pandemic.
