IR’s third private train, KashiMahakal Express, begins commercial operations

Indian Railways’ (IR) third private train, the KashiMahakal Express began commercial operations on February 20, 2020 after its inaugural run on February 16, 2020. The train runs between Varanasi and Indore and like the other two private trains (Lucknow-Delhi and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express), it is operated by the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The train runs three days a week – two days via Lucknow and one day via Allahabad. It is the first corporate train to have sleeper coaches and travel long distances. IRCTC is also offering several tour packages for passengers, including hotel facilities. Further, passengers travelling on the train are covered by a complimentary travel insurance of Rs 1 million.
