ADB approves $350 million loan for rehabilitation and upgradation of roads in Chhattisgarh

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of $350 million for the rehabilitation and upgradation of roads in Chhattisgarh. The project involves the rehabilitation/upgradation of two state highways and 23 major district roads spanning a total length of 850 km. The selected roads will be widened from a single or intermediate lane width to two/four lanes. The loan will also strengthen the institutional capacity of the Chhattisgarh Public Works Department in road maintenance and safety. The total cost of the project is $521.69 million, of which the government will provide $171.69 million. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2024.
