The Digital Communications Commission (DCC) has cleared the norms for 5G trials in the country. Further, DCC has decided that spectrum for 5G trials will be allotted for one year, which will be extendable for a one-time fee of Rs 50 billion. The telecom panel has also asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to review its recommendations on spectrum auctions. The government is expecting to raise about Rs 5.83 trillion from the upcoming spectrum auctions, under which it is planning to sell about 8,600 MHz of airwaves across multiple frequency bands.
