Delhi Metro opens Pink Line section, lowers Red Line extension and Phase IV cost

Passenger services have commenced on the 17.8 km section of the Pink Line of Delhi metro, Phase III, from Shiv Vihar to Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake. The section has 15 elevated stations and interchange facilities at Welcome (Red Line), Karkardooma (Blue Line) and Anand Vihar (Blue Line). The section will further be extended to Lajpat Nagar, taking the total length of the Pink Line to 59 km. The Delhi metro network spans 314 km and covers 229 stations. In addition, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has submitted the funding pattern as per the updated project completion cost for the Red Line extension, which will span 9.41 km from Dilshad Garden in Delhi to New Bus Adda in Ghaziabad, covering eight stations. The revised cost of the extension is Rs 18.05 billion, which is Rs 4.05 billion lower than the previous cost estimate of Rs 22.1 billion. Furthermore, the DMRC has revised the project cost of Phase IV to Rs 456.03 billion, which is Rs 96.05 billion lower than the previous cost estimate of Rs 552.08 billion.
