Essar Power to repay Rs 20 billion debt by 2018

Essar Power expects to repay its entire Rs 20 billion debt over the next two years. Some of the company’s power plants are now becoming operational on account of the availability of low-cost fuel and this will strengthen the company’s revenue stream. The first unit of 600 MW of the 1,200 MW Mahan power plant in Madhya Pradesh is expected to start operations in April 2016, while the second unit of the plant is likely to be commissioned by September 2016.
