CERC issues order on grade slippage

The CERC has upheld Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited’s (TPDDCL) petition seeking directions to NTPC Limited and Damodar Valley Corporation Limited in the matter of grade slippage between the coal billed by CIL and the coal received by the gencos. The CERC has stated that the energy charge to be levied by the gencos on the beneficiaries would be based on the computation of gross calorific value (GCV) at the unloading point and billing would be as per the GCV on an as-received basis. (This is subject to the outcome of the writ petitions which are currently pending in the Delhi High Court).
