Waste-to-energy project commissioned in Vengadamangalam, Tamil Nadu

Maharashtra-based Essel Infraprojects Limited has commissioned its waste-to-energy project at Vengadamangalam in Tamil Nadu. The project has been undertaken at a cost of Rs 1 billion on a design-build-operate-transfer basis. The contract has an operations and maintenance period of 20 years. The plant is expected to treat 300 tonnes per day (tpd) of municipal solid waste (MSW) and is equipped to generate 2.9 MW of power. Essel Pallavapuram Private Limited and Tambaram Municipal Solid Waste Private Limited, fully owned subsidiaries of Essel Infraprojects, had won the contract from the Pallavaram Municipality in Tamil Nadu for developing the project.
