The consortium of Siemens Limited and Siemens AG Germany has won a contract worth Rs 2.48 billion for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of signalling and train control and communication systems for Reach 5 of the Bengaluru metro rail project, Phase II. Bids were invited by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited in September 2019. The project involves the construction of four extensions and two new lines covering a length of 72.09 km (13.79 km underground and 58.3 km elevated) in Karnataka, at an investment of Rs 264.05 billion.
