The board of directors of the New Development Bank approved funds for the Mumbai metro, Phase III, Line 6, project and the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut regional rapid transit system (RRTS) project, Phase I, on September 29, 2020. Funds worth Rs 17.17 billion ($241 million) have been approved for the Mumbai metro, Line 6, project. The project involves the development of 14.47 km of metro rail, connecting Swami Samarth Nagar to Kanjurmarg via the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road in Mumbai, at an investment of Rs 67.72 billion. It consists of a total of 13 stations that are entirely elevated. Besides, funds worth Rs 37.5 billion ($500 million) have been approved for the Delhi-Meerut RRTS project. The project involves the development of a 82.15 km RRTS connecting the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor in the states of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, at an investment of Rs 306.68 billion. It will be developed in three stages with the entire project expected to commence operations by March 2025.
