Vodafone Idea to upgrade 3G users to 4G in key markets, will continue to offer 2G services

Vodafone Idea has said that it will upgrade its 3G users to 4G in key markets in an effort to be at par with competitors Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio that have a larger 4G subscriber base. As part of this initiative, the telco’s enterprise customers currently using 3G-based services will be upgraded to 4G and 4G-based internet of things (IoT) applications and services in a phased manner. That said, Vodafone Idea will continue to offer 2G services, that have a large number of users, especially in rural areas.
