During April-September 2021, India’s major ports handled 347.02 million tonnes (mt) of traffic, compared to 298.85 mt in the corresponding period of 2020-21, registering an increase of 16.12 per cent. Deendayal Port handled the maximum traffic at 63 mt, followed by Paradip Port (56.16 mt) and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) (36.35 mt). The traffic handled at major ports has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
