Significant progress has been made under AMRUT and AMRUT 2.0. As of February 9, 2026, a total of 23.8 million household tap water connections have been provided under AMRUT and AMRUT 2.0 in convergence with other schemes. Under AMRUT, about 1,403 water supply projects worth Rs 433.6 billion have been grounded. A total of 6,140 million litres per day (mld) of water treatment plant (WTP) capacity has been approved, of which 5,330 mld has been developed. About 73,520 km of water supply pipelines have been laid or replaced. In addition, 889 sewerage and septage management projects worth Rs 344.67 billion have been grounded, while around 6,299 mld sewage treatment capacity has been approved, of which 4,843 mld has been developed, including 1,437 mld for recycle/reuse. Under AMRUT 2.0, as of February 9, 2026, 3,528 water supply projects worth Rs 1,196.36 billion have been approved, providing 11,393 mld WTP capacity and 126,000 km of water supply network. Further, 583 projects worth Rs 661.18 billion have been approved, covering 6,650 mld sewage treatment capacity and 1,932 mld recycle/reuse capacity.
