Kamarajar Port Limited has achieved a significant milestone, becoming the first port in India to handle automobile transshipment operations.
On August 27, 2025, the port received its inaugural shipment of 550 vehicles from the Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) Group, unloading them from the car carrier M.V. Tourmaline Ace onto the general cargo berth. These cars, which arrived from Singapore, were then moved to the transit yard at the berth, ready for further movement.
