Road sector InvITs’ AUM to reach Rs 3.20 trillion by 2025-26

As per CRISIL, assets under management (AUM) of infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs) in the road sector are projected to grow by 70 per cent, reaching Rs 3.2 trillion by the end of 2025-26, compared to Rs 1.9 trillion in September 2024. Existing InvITs have an acquisition pipeline of Rs 550 billion-Rs 600 billion over the next year, with an additional Rs 500 billion-Rs 550 billion expected from asset monetisation by NHAI and road developers. Furthermore, two new InVITs with an estimated AUM of Rs 200 billion-Rs 250 billion will contribute to this growth. This expansion will drive greater geographical and concession-type diversification, reducing reliance on toll roads, which currently account for 85 per cent of AUM.
