The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reportedly introduced new regulations targeted to simplify airworthiness requirements for light aircraft and non-scheduled aircraft operators. The regulations would be effective from January 1, 2025.
Three sets of regulations which are the CAR-ML, CAR-CAO, and the CAR-CAMO have been introduced for simplifying the airworthiness requirements for light aircraft and private aircraft operators. Amendments have also been made to CAR-M and CAR-145.
The continuing airworthiness of aircraft are currently governed by two primary civil aviation requirements (CAR). These include the CAR-M that covers airworthiness of all aircraft types including aircraft used for scheduled and non-scheduled operations, private operations, etc. and CAR-145 that regulates maintenance of aircraft used for commercial operations and complex motor aircraft.
