The Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase I is anticipated to be completed by 2027-28, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The project, which has exceeded its initial expenditure limit, has awarded 26,425 km of road construction, with 17,411 km completed to date. The revised financial proposal for the Bharatmala Pariyojana is currently under review.
The total estimated cost of the program is Rs 6,923.24 billion, funded through various sources including the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund cess (Rs 2,370.24 billion), remittances (Rs 460.48 billion), additional budgetary support (Rs 599.73 billion), and other mechanisms. The initiative aims to provide high-speed corridor access within 100-150 km of all citizens by Vision 2047.
