East Coast Railway has planned to deploy solar power plants with total capacity of 21,826 kWp (kilowatts peak) in its zone. This would lead to overall savings of Rs 140 million on energy bill and Rs 9.14 million on carbon credit. The installation of the same will be implemented at 6,924 residential buildings, 366 level crossing (LC) gates, 248 service buildings, 149 station buildings and across several sections like Khurda road-Puri, Brahmapur-Palasa, Bubaneshwar-Cuttack-Paradeep-Bhadrak section, Kottavalasa-Kirandul rail line, Visakhapatnam Electric loco shed area, among others.
Besides, tenders worth Rs 837.9 million have been floated for installation of rooftop solar power plants at stations, service buildings and other locations.
