Eastern Railway (ER) has achieved freight loading of 67.95 million tonnes (mt) during 2023-24 (till January 2024), as compared to 65.25 mt achieved in corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, freight revenue worth Rs 60.02 billion was achieved up to January 2024, which is an increase of 15.35 per cent against Rs 51.95 billion achieved during the same period last year.
Further, passenger traffic of 952.94 million was registered till January 2024, which is 4.42 per cent higher than the same period last year and passenger revenue of Rs 29.75 billion was achieved till January 2024, which is 9.84 per cent higher than the revenue achieved during the same period in last year.
In January 2024, originating freight earning of Rs 7.42 billion has been achieved as against Rs 6.13 billion in January 2023. Further, IR recorded Rs 3.05 billion as passenger revenue in January 2024.
