The Digital Communications Commission has approved a number of key proposals including an audio-conferencing service under the ambit of the telecom licence, reducing the entry fee on very small aperture terminal (VSAT) to Rs 1.5 million from Rs 3 million, and waiving the Rs 1.6 million fee that organisations are required to pay for each VSAT hub thereafter. Further, the DCC has sought the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) views on allocating 10 MHz spectrum in the 700 MHz band worth Rs 650 billion to IR for an advanced signalling system.
