Airtel expands network connectivity to remote Marwah valley in Jammu and Kashmir

Bharti Airtel has announced the expansion of its network coverage to Marwah, a remote region located in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. With this rollout, Airtel said it has become the first service provider to offer mobile connectivity in the strategically important and hard to access area that links Kishtwar with Anantnag district in south Kashmir.

Marwah is known for its rugged terrain and limited seasonal road connectivity to Kishtwar and Anantnag. During winter months, heavy snowfall often cuts off access to the region. Residents frequently rely on mules or travel on foot for essential supplies, work and emergencies. The lack of telecom coverage had also left a corridor of about 150 kilometres without connectivity.

According to the telco, the deployment of high speed network services in the region is expected to improve connectivity for local residents, security forces and tourists. It added that the rollout could also help unlock the tourism potential of the area, which is known for its natural landscape.
