The central government has allocated funds worth Rs 3,098.75 billion to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) under Union Budget 2026-27 on February 1, 2026. Of the total allocation, Rs 1,872.93 billion is for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Rs 1,219.98 billion for roads and bridges under central sector schemes/projects and Rs 4 billion for road transport and safety. Additionally, Rs 89.17 billion has been allocated for central sector schemes/projects to the Border Roads Organisation under the Ministry of Defence.
