Cairn Oil and Gas notifies gas discovery at Ambe block

Cairn Oil and Gas, a part of Vedanta Limited has notified a hydrocarbon gas discovery in the appraisal well Ambe-2A on the West Coast, at reservoirs located below the main gas field, within the Miocene-Tarkeshwar formation.

Evaluations are being carried out in order to assess the potential for the field development plan of the block.

The discovery marks a key milestone in the company’s commitment towards India’s energy security. Cairn was awarded the Ambe block, spread across 728.19 square km under the Discovered Small Field (DSF)-III bidding round in September 2022.

The company has plans to drill two additional wells in continuity for the ongoing drilling campaign. Further, in line with the exploration and development campaign, plans exist for the development of the offshore blocks located in the East and West coast.
