The Chandigarh International Airport has introduced the smart visual docking guidance system (S-VDGS) across 15 aircraft parking stands. The system facilitates real-time software-assisted guidance to pilots while they dock aircraft at the terminal. It is among the most advanced systems in global aviation. 15 of the 17 aircraft parking stands at the airport have been fitted with the system. The move is expected to attract international carriers to the airport, who prioritise precision, safety and efficient ground operations. The terminal has a capacity to handle up to 6 mppa, features five aerobridges and three conveyor belts, among others. The runway at the airport spans approximately 10,400 feet, capable of handling wide-body and long-haul aircraft.
