Foundation stone laid for four infrastructure projects worth Rs 2.30 billion at Visakhapatnam Port

On January 10, 2026, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal laid foundation stone for four infrastructure projects of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority, worth total investment of Rs 2.3 billion.

The projects include upgrading firefighting facilities at the liquefied petroleum gas berth (Rs 522.3 million) to meet safety standards; modernising the outer repair section (ORS) dry dock (Rs 358.7 million) to enhance ship repair capabilities and revenue; constructing a G+9 administrative building with green design standards (Rs 977 million); and building residential apartments at Harbour Park (Rs 442 million) to improve housing for port staff and support land monetisation. The port has a potential to exceed 100 million tonnes of cargo throughput.
