Indian Railways achieves 99.2 per cent electrification of its BG network till November 2025 

Indian Railways (IR) has achieved 99.2 per cent electrification of its broad gauge (BG) network till November 30, 2025, covering 25 states and union territories. About 69,427 route km (rkm) out of total 70,001 rkm of IR’s network has been electrified. Further, 14 out of 18 zones have already achieved full electrification.

Besides, progress on the remaining zones include 6,053 rkm out of 6,146 rkm (98 per cent) for North Western Railway (NWR), 4,945 rkm out of 5,062 rkm (98 per cent) for Southern Railway (SR), 4,066 rkm out of 4,263 rkm (95 per cent) for Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), and 3,301 rkm out of 3,468 rkm (95 per cent) for South Western Railway (SWR).
