Network Planning Group evaluates five rail projects in various states

The Network Planning Group (NPG) of ‘PM GatiShakti National Master Plan’ evaluated five rail projects. These are:

  • Gummidipundi-Gudur Third and Fourth Railway Line: It involves developing a 89.96 km long third and fourth railway line between Gummidipundi and Gudur passing through Tiruvallur District in Tamil Nadu and Tirupati district in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Nidadavolu-Duvvada Third and Fourth Railway Line Project: It involves developing a 198.1 km long third and fourth railway line from Nidadavolu to Duvvada in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Nagda-Mathura Third and Fourth Railway Line Project: It involves laying a 567.86 km long new line from Nagda to Mathura station in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
  • Third financial restructuring initiative for Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL): It involves undertaking major infrastructure upgrades across Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka to strengthen its financial and operational health. The plan includes constructing two new tunnels at Pernem and old Goa and developing three new crossing stations at Mayem, Neura-O-Grande and Mookambika Road-Byndoor, aimed at enhancing line capacity, improving safety and boosting overall operational efficiency along the Konkan Railway route.
  • Ghaziabad Station-New Sitapur Third and Fourth Railway Line Project: It involves laying a 1,676 mm wide third and fourth rail line between Ghaziabad and New Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh, spanning 402.78 km across ten districts.
