SPML Infra Limited, India’s leading water infrastructure company, has been awarded a prestigious Rs 3.85 billion ($45 million) project for the water production and supply system for Kekri-Sarwar Sector Package-III in Ajmer, Rajasthan. The project, awarded under the government of India’s flagship Jal Jeevan Mission, includes a comprehensive 10-year operation and maintenance (O&M) contract.
The Kekri Water Supply Scheme to be implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission aims to upgrade and strengthen the water supply infrastructure for the Kekri-Sarwar region, while also enhancing the water production and distribution system in Ajmer district, drawing water from the Bisalpur Dam. This major infrastructure development project will significantly strengthen the region’s water supply system, benefiting a population of 2.58 million across both urban and rural areas. It aligns with the government of India’s mission to provide safe and reliable drinking water to every household in the country.
Major Components of the Project
The comprehensive water infrastructure project encompasses several critical components:
Water Treatment Plant: The project includes the provision of a state-of-the-art 160 million litres per day water treatment plant (WTP) at the Kekri location, designed to meet the highest water quality standards.
Storage Facilities: Construction of two clear water reservoirs with a combined capacity of 37.75 millilitres (ml) – one at the WTP Kekri Campus (20 ml) and another at IPS Nasirabad PH (17.75 ml) to ensure adequate water storage and distribution.
Transmission Network: The project involves providing, laying, jointing, testing, and commissioning of 1500 millimetres diameter MS Pipeline spanning 58.68 kilometers as rising main from WTP Kekri to IPS Nasirabad, creating a robust water transmission network.
Advanced Technology Integration: Supply and installation of advanced pumping systems, along with associated electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and related civil works at the WTP Kekri pump house.
Infrastructure Development: The scope includes demolishment of existing structures and construction of new office buildings and J-2 quarters at the proposed location.
Smart Monitoring: The entire scheme will be monitored through an advanced SCADA system for real-time operational control and efficiency.
Long-term Operations: A comprehensive 10-year Operation and Maintenance contract to ensure optimal system performance and sustainability.
Mr Subhash Sethi, Chairman, SPML Infra Limited commented: “We are honoured to be selected for this prestigious project under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
