SEBI proposes to increase MF investment limits in REITs and InvITs

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in a consultation paper has proposed to raise the mutual fund (MF) investment limits in real estate investment trusts (REITs) and infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs). In the new recommendation, the single issuer limit of these securities is proposed to be increased from 5 per cent to 10 per cent, and the overall exposure of a scheme’s net asset value (NAV) to 20 per cent from the earlier 10 per cent. Debt MF schemes will retain a 10 per cent limit.
