GAIL (India) Limited is planning to expand the capacity of its Dabhol liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal from 5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 15 mtpa by 2030-31. Additionally, it is likely to commission breakwater infrastructure in May 2025 to ensure the terminal’s operation even during the monsoon season. Currently, the Dabhol LNG terminal in Maharashtra has a capacity of 5 mtpa. Under Phase I, the capacity will be expanded from 5 mtpa to 6.5 mtpa, and in Phase II, it will be further expanded to 15 mtpa. The project entails an investment of over Rs 200 billion.
