The government of Andhra Pradesh is exploring the feasibility of upgrading four key roads in the northern districts to four-lane highways. The proposed projects include a 160 km four lane road from Vizianagaram to Palasa, connecting Chipurupalli, Rajam, Palakonda, Kotturu in Andhra Pradesh, and Parlakhemundi in Odisha, extending through Meliaputti, Chapara, and Palasa in Srikakulam.
Additionally, a 60 km stretch from Rambhadrapuram to Chilakapalem via Rajam and Ponduru is planned for four lane expansion. Another road from Rambhadrapuram to Rayagada in Odisha, via Parvathipuram, will serve as an interstate highway. Lastly, the Nellimarla Junction to Ranastalam via Ramatheerdham is proposed as a four lane road, facilitating access to spiritual sites like the Majji Gairamma Temple in Rayagada and Lord Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple in Ramatheerdham.
