95 per cent survey work completed for Kangra Airport Expansion Project

About 95 per cent of the survey work has been completed for the Kangra Airport Runway Expansion Project. Besides, about 147 hectares of land will be acquired for the same, out of which, 122 ha is private and 25 ha is government land. The project involves extension of the runway from 1,372 m to 3,010 m at Kangra airport in Gaggal district in Himachal Pradesh. The project will be implemented in two phases, where Phase I will involve expansion up to 1,900 m followed by expansion up to 3,010 m under Phase II. It will cater to the operations of bigger planes like Airbus 320. Currently, ATR-72 type aircraft operate at the airport.
