New infrastructure at Tezu airport inaugurated

The newly developed infrastructure at Tezu airport was inaugurated on September 24, 2023. The project involved runway extension, and the construction of a new apron that can accommodate two ATR 72-type aircraft, a new terminal building and a fire station-cum-ATC tower, with a total cost of Rs 1.7 billion. The airport was operationalised in 2018 as part of the Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme. The terminal building covers an area of 4,000 square metres and has the capacity to handle 300 passengers during peak hours. It is also equipped with sustainability features including a double insulated roofing system and low heat gain glazing.
