MoP proposes Amendments to Energy Conservation Act, 2001

The MoP has proposed amendments to the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 to promote clean energy consumption. The amendments entail defining a minimum share of renewable energy in the overall consumption by any establishment. There will be incentives on using clean energy sources by means of carbon saving certificates. The proposed amendments will facilitate the development of the carbon market in India and prescribe a minimum consumption of renewables either as direct consumption or indirect use through the grid.
