APSEZL and Port of Wilhelmshaven showcase capabilities at Mumbai roadshow

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZL), India’s largest private port developer and operator, and Wilhelmshaven Freight Village Container Terminal, the only deep-water container terminal in Germany (jointly owned and operated by Eurogate and APM Terminals), organised a roadshow at ITC Maratha in Mumbai on February 26, 2020. APSEZL and Wilhelmshaven Terminal had signed a marketing agreement in June 2019 to collaborate in areas that will promote trade and container shipping between the two port operators. The event also showcased a niche endeavour for stakeholders to have a glimpse of the infrastructure, capabilities and performance of APSEZL and Wilhelmshaven Terminal.

Germany is among India’s top 10 trade partners for both exports and imports. Textiles, metal and metal products, leather and leather goods, food and beverages, machinery, pharmaceuticals, auto components, chemicals and rubber products are major Indian exports to Germany. Indian imports from Germany include paper and printing material, machineries, electro-technology, chemicals, control and measurement equipment, plastics, and medical technology and pharma.

There are a number of liner services connecting India and Germany directly as well as through transshipment. The Port of Wilhelmshaven has been connected to India for the past seven years via Mundra and NhavaSheva through the Middle East 1 service of the Maersk Group, Safmarine Container Lines N.V. and Hamburg Sud.
