Uttrakhand government signs loan agreement with KfW for developing sewer line network in Haridwar and Rishikesh

The Uttarakhand government has signed a loan agreement worth Rs 12 billion (Euro 150 million) with German development bank KfW for developing a sewer line network in the twin cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh. The project includes laying of an 181.5 km sewer network in Haridwar and an 180 km network in Rishikesh along with the construction of 16 pumping stations and one 2 mld STP. Of the total project cost of Rs 12 billion, Rs 9.6 billion will be provided by KfW as a loan component while the remaining Rs 2.4 billion will be provided by the state government as state counterpart funding. As per the agreement, 90 per cent of the loan component of Rs 9.6 billion will be repaid by the central government and 10 per cent by the state government.
